DIRECTIONS FOR VIEWING AND EDITING GIF FILE ARCHIVES ==================================================== The .exe files on this page are self-extracting ZIP files, with each slide individually saved to a graphics file in standard GIF format. GIF files should be viewable and printable on any Windows 9x box. The procedure for saving and viewing these images is as follows: (1) Create a directory in which ALL of the lectures for this class will be saved. A recommendation for the name of this directory would be C:\EECS458 (2) Create a directory in which to save the attached enclosure FOR THIS LECTURE. A recommendation for the name of this directory would be C:\EECS458\LECT_xx where xx is the lecture number (3) Copy the file from the floppy to the directory created in step (2). A recommendation for the name of this file would be to keep the default name of the file, or LECT_xx.EXE (4) In either DOS or windows, go to the directory where the enclosure is saved and execute the file LECT_xx.EXE This will cause the individual slides to be placed in the directory with LECT_xx.EXE (5) View and print the individual slides with any graphics file viewer. Windows comes with one, or use the one included in with the notes, or there are hundreds of different shareware viewers available on the WWW. Mark D.
