Chopper's Home Page

This is a no frills web page. Here is The resume. And this is what I do:

Unix Systems Administrator
elm36@tds.net

I am a Unix Sys-admin in the financial sector now. I used to be able to
list all of the machines I was responsible for. But now there are so many
that it isn't possible. Also, before I did it all myself. Now, I'm part of a
good team that shares the responsibility.

Following section to be updated...

Most of these are running PeopleSoft applications and databases. This is part of the OASIS project. Some of them were part of the dot edu project. dot edu used several applications (Blackboard/Prometheous/D2L) to enhance the classroom experience. dot.edu doesn't exist anymore, but the idea and technology behind it, continues to flourish.

What else do I do? As usual, I install patches, assemble hardware, install operating systems, answer Unix questions, upgrade hardware, write Perl scripts, write policies, develop and run security checks, deal with vendors, educate users, and give general assistance where needed. And now, train new sys-admins as well.
