CS Minor

The Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department offers an 18 credit Computer Science Minor open to all University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee undergraduate students wishing to develop strengths in Computer Science. The course work includes required courses in programming and computer organization as well as electives that can be chosen from a broad spectrum of computer science courses.

The 18-credit minor requirement can best be satisfied as shown below:

  1. Computer Science 152* Computer Programming I
  2. Computer Science 215** Computer Organization and Assembly Language Programming
  3. Twelve additional elective credits of Computer Science courses. (Computer Science 132 and 211 cannot be used as electives. Computer Science 290 can be used as electives with the permission of a Computer Science advisor.)

* Students hoping to acquire a substantial programming background are advised to take the sequence Computer Science 152 and 252 (Computer Programming I and II).

** The mathematics prerequisites for Computer Science 215 can be satisfied by completion of Math 211, 226 or 231.

There are a few recommended course sequences suggested for students with particular interests.
